Wood works and lives

As with any other type of wood, this type of wood is also one that works. A change in the humidity of the air causes shrinkage or expansion of the wood. You will notice that the Douglas wood expands in wet weather and shrinks in the warm summer. This work, as the contraction and expansion is called, can sometimes lead to superficial cracks. This is in most cases seasonal and, in most cases, does not affect the strength or quality of the wood. Wood is a natural product and shrinkage and expansion is therefore allowed with the various products. In addition to working the wood, it is also possible, or actually even self-evident, that knots, flames and veins will be present in the wood. After all, the wood comes from a tree that previously had branches on it. We always give the tip to always mount knots or the like out of sight as they sometimes want to fall out over time. The Douglas wood also has the property that the wood will “bleed”. Bleeding means that resin is coming out of the wood. This is especially possible in the first year. We recommend that you wait until the resin has hardened and then remove it with a firm brush. Pests also enjoy the Douglas, especially during its existence in the form of a tree. It sometimes happens that, for example, a plank contains a number of holes from a previous bug activity.
