Genuine stainless steel, not coated mild steel, for true long-term corrosion resistance
Covers vulnerable end-grain, shedding rainwater cleanly off the post top
Crisp, finished detail that quietly elevates the look of any fence run
Sized for 90×90 mm posts, the most common Irish fence post dimension
Visible at every post top, so finish quality matters across the whole run
Slightly more outlay per post than felt or plastic alternatives, but the cost difference is small relative to the post itself

Stainless Steel Post Cap
Timber post tops are the part of a fence that fails first. Rain pools on the cut end-grain, soaks down into the post, and within a couple of seasons you’re looking at split tops, black staining, and the start of internal rot. A 90×90 mm stainless steel post cap covers that vulnerable end-grain entirely, sheds water cleanly, and finishes your fence line with a crisp, considered detail.
You’re getting genuine stainless steel, not coated mild steel, so the cap won’t rust, won’t streak down the post in brown lines, and won’t need replacing in five years. It’s the small detail that quietly distinguishes a properly built fence from a quick job.
Why a post cap?
Cut timber end-grain absorbs water like a sponge. Even pressure-treated or naturally durable species struggle with constant rain on a flat cut. A cap shifts that exposure off the timber and onto a non-absorbent surface, dramatically extending the life of every post on your fence run.
Installation guidance
Sized to fit standard 90×90 mm posts. Slide the cap over a clean post top and secure with stainless steel pins, screws, or a bead of exterior-grade adhesive. For exposed sites, both a fixing and adhesive together give the best long-term hold.
Finishing & maintenance
Stainless steel is genuinely fit-and-forget. A wipe with a soft cloth once or twice a year removes spots and water marks, but no protective treatment is required. Most of our customers leave them entirely alone after fitting. If you’ve fitted them with mild steel screws by mistake, swap them for stainless to avoid streak staining; we stock matching fixings if you’d like to ask which to pair with the caps.
