Decking Boards for Sale in Ireland
We stock timber and composite decking boards, with everything that goes underneath them: joists, pedestals, fixings, trims and oils. Everything is stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.
How to Choose Decking Boards
Start with how much upkeep you want, then choose the look.
- Timber decking: real wood grain and a lower starting cost. It needs oiling once a year to keep its colour. Choose hardwood Yellow Balau for the longest life, or cedar and Ecowood for a lighter, more affordable deck.
- Composite decking: a blend of wood fibre and recycled plastic that needs almost no maintenance and won’t need oiling. Choose from our PuraPro, PuraPlus, PuraPrime, PuraShield and Puraboard ranges.
- Board length: choose a length that matches your deck, or divides into it, to cut waste.
- Surface: smooth for a clean look, grooved or non-slip for steps, pool surrounds and shady spots that stay damp.
How Much Does Decking Cost?
Decking prices depend on the material, the board size and what goes underneath. To compare fairly, look at the coverage on each product page, which is the area each board covers, rather than the price per board. When you add boards to your cart, the fixings and extras for that range are added automatically, so you see the full cost of the deck before you order.
Timber Decking
Timber decking is the choice when you want the warmth and grain of real wood in the garden. We stock four ranges, and each has its own care needs, so check the product page for the finish it calls for before you choose. Compare them all on our timber decking page.
Cedar Decking
Cedar decking is a naturally rot-resistant softwood that holds up well in Ireland’s damp climate while keeping a warm, traditional look.
Yellow Balau Decking
Yellow Balau decking is a dense, durable hardwood, the one to choose for busy areas that take heavy foot traffic.
MicroShades Decking
MicroShades decking is treated softwood that arrives factory finished, so the deck looks finished the day it goes down, with no treatment on site.
Ecowood Decking
Ecowood decking is our kiln-dried softwood, a versatile, sustainable board that suits a wide range of garden styles and budgets.
Composite Decking
Composite decking gives you the look of timber without the upkeep. It is made from wood fibre and recycled plastic, so there is no oiling, no staining and no warping, and the deck holds its appearance year after year. We stock five ranges, from our entry-level PuraPro to our premium solid Puraboard, and you can see them side by side on our composite decking page.
PuraPro™
PuraPro™ is our entry-level board, a square hollow composite with reliable durability and a natural wood grain finish at an accessible price.
PuraPlus™
PuraPlus™ is a wider square hollow board, so there are fewer joints across the deck and it goes down faster and looks cleaner.
PuraPrime™
PuraPrime™ is a round hollow board, a step up in profile and finish, in a broader choice of colours.
PuraShield™
PuraShield™ is co-extruded, with a protective outer layer for maximum resistance to staining, fading and surface wear.
Puraboard™
Puraboard™ is a solid 175×22 mm polyurethane board with no wood in it, so there is nothing to rot or swell. It is screw fixed with no clips and has an R11 grip rating, the highest in our range.
Decking Substructures
A deck is only as good as what sits underneath it, and a level, ventilated substructure is what makes it last, whichever boards you choose. Our decking substructures keep the boards level, properly spaced and supported for the life of the deck. Whatever the frame, leave a gap between boards for drainage.
Decking Pedestals
On slabs, uneven ground, balconies and roof terraces, adjustable decking pedestals go under the joists so you can set the frame level.
Decking Joists
Our decking joists carry both timber and composite boards; lay them at the spacing given for your board range.
Decking Maintenance
Timber decking needs occasional care to look its best and last longer. An oil or stain from our oils and stains range protects the boards against Ireland’s wet, changeable weather and refreshes their natural colour.
Decking Accessories
From trims and edging to hidden fixings and waterproofing membranes, the right accessories give a deck a clean, professional finish.
Trims & Fascia
Decking trims and fascia are the corner trims and fascia boards that give your deck a finished edge.
Hardware
Our decking hardware covers the clips, screws and fixings made to work with our timber and composite ranges.
Tapes & Membranes
Decking tapes and membranes protect the joists and the rest of the frame from moisture damage.
Frequently Asked Questions About Decking Boards
How much decking do I need?
Enter the area of your deck in the calculator on the board’s product page and it works out how many lengths you need. The cart then adds the matching extras for that range automatically, so you don’t have to count clips and fixings by hand.
How much do decking boards cost?
Every board is priced per length on its product page, but boards cover different areas, so compare the cost of the finished deck rather than the price per board. When you add boards to the cart, the matching extras for that range are added too, so the cart total is the whole deck.
How long are decking boards?
It depends on the range, and several ranges come in more than one length. Choose the length on the product page; longer boards mean fewer joints on long runs, and a length that matches your deck, or divides into it, cuts waste. Each product page shows the lengths in stock.
What widths do decking boards come in?
Our composite boards run from 135 mm (PuraPro) through 138 mm (PuraShield) and 145 mm (PuraPlus) up to 175 mm (Puraboard). Timber boards include Ecowood and Yellow Balau at 145 mm, MicroShades at 144 mm and Cedar at 90 mm or 140 mm. Wider boards mean fewer joints across the deck.
Which decking is best if I want a non-slip surface?
All our composite ranges are independently tested for slip resistance. If you prefer timber, Yellow Balau is available in a dedicated non-slip profile as well as smooth/grooved. Whichever you choose, keep the deck clear of moss and leaf litter, as any outdoor surface gets slippery when dirty.
Can I see the decking before I buy?
Yes. Our Dublin showroom carries the full composite range, so you can compare colours and finishes in person, and our timber decking is there to view as well. If you can’t get to us, composite samples can be delivered anywhere in Ireland.
Can I lay a deck on a patio, balcony or uneven ground?
Yes, using adjustable pedestals under the joists. You twist each pedestal to take out dips and falls in the surface below, so there is no packing or shimming, and our range covers heights from 10 mm up to 210 mm. See our decking substructures.
What is the difference between timber and composite decking?
Timber decking is natural wood with real grain and a lower starting cost, and it needs oiling once a year. Composite decking is a blend of wood fibre and recycled plastic that needs almost no maintenance and never needs oiling. See our timber decking and composite decking.
Do I need a substructure for my deck?
Yes. A level, ventilated frame of joists, with adjustable pedestals where needed, is what keeps any deck flat, stable and long lasting. See our decking substructures.
How do I maintain timber decking?
Sweep it and wash it down in spring, then oil it once a year to protect it from moisture and UV and keep the colour. See our wood oils and stains.
