Hardwood Fencing for Sale in Ireland
Hardwood fence panels are the premium end of timber fencing: denser, heavier and longer lasting than softwood panels, with a warm tropical colour. Every panel is 1800×1800 mm, stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.
Hardwood Fence Panel Styles
All four panels share the same size, so you can mix styles on one boundary.
- Heaney: Keruing, horizontal slats with an even gap, for crisp shadow lines and privacy without a closed in feel.
- Markievicz: hardwood slats you can fit vertical or horizontal, for a boundary where you choose the direction of the lines.
- Swift: Bankirai, one of the heaviest and most durable fencing hardwoods, slatted in golden brown tones, for the longest lasting boundary.
- Rossa: Keruing, a simple panel for a clean, modern boundary.
Keruing and Bankirai
Most of our panels are Keruing, and the product page names the timber in each one.
- Keruing: a tropical hardwood of around 740 kg/m³, Durability Class 3, with red brown tones. Good value hardwood for exterior use, with a service life of 15 years and beyond when finished and detailed well.
- Bankirai: denser and more durable, with a yellow brown to deep golden colour.
Installing Hardwood Fence Panels
- Set posts at 1800 mm centres plus the post width, concreted in and plumb.
- Pre-drill every fixing point. These dense hardwoods split if you drive screws in cold.
- Use A2 or A4 stainless steel screws. Ordinary fixings react with the timber’s natural oils and stain the face.
- A little resin weep or fine surface checking is normal as the panels settle, and is cosmetic.
Oiling Hardwood Fencing
Hardwood panels last without treatment, but bare hardwood weathers to silver grey and Keruing performs best with a protective finish. Most people oil their panels to keep the warm colour. Use a UV resistant hardwood oil, avoid varnishes and solvent heavy stains that flake, and wash the slats once a year with warm soapy water before re-oiling. See our wood oils and stains.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hardwood Fence Panels
What timber are your hardwood fence panels made from?
Most of our hardwood panels, including Heaney and Rossa, are made from Keruing, a dense tropical hardwood. Each product page names the timber used in that panel.
Do I need to pre-drill hardwood fence panels?
Yes. These are dense hardwoods and will split if you drive screws in cold. Pre-drill every fixing point and use stainless steel screws, as ordinary fixings can react with the timber’s natural oils and stain the face.
Should I oil hardwood fencing?
It lasts without oil, but bare hardwood weathers to a soft silver grey, so most people oil it to keep the warm colour. Use a UV resistant hardwood oil, avoid varnishes and solvent heavy decking stains that sit on the surface and flake, and wash the slats yearly with warm soapy water before re-oiling. See our wood oils and stains.
Is it normal for a hardwood panel to weep resin or show fine cracks?
Yes. Dense hardwoods can occasionally weep a little resin or show fine surface checking as they settle. Both are cosmetic and do not affect the panel’s structural life.
Do you have horizontal and vertical slatted hardwood panels?
Yes. Heaney is a horizontal slatted panel and Markievicz is vertical, both at 1800×1800 mm. Rossa and Swift give you further hardwood styles at the same size.
