          PuraPlus Composite Decking

PuraPlus composite decking is our wide square hollow deck board, for larger terraces and open gardens where fewer joints give a cleaner line. Every board is 145×21 mm and comes in five colours from pale Silver Ash to deep Walnut. It sits one step above PuraPro in our range. Stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

            PuraPlus Wide Composite Decking

PuraPlus composite decking is a hollow board made for bigger decks. At 145 mm it is the widest of our square hollow boards, so a large terrace needs fewer boards and fewer joints. That means less handling and faster fitting, and a finished deck that reads as one calm surface. Wide boards also look more in proportion beside contemporary houses, where narrow boards can look busy. It never needs oiling, staining or sanding, and hidden clips keep the surface free of screw heads.

            PuraPlus Board Size

Every PuraPlus board is 145×21 mm, so the only choice you make is the colour. The 145 mm width gives about 7% more cover per board than a 135 mm board, so a big deck needs fewer boards to cut, carry and clip, and the finished surface has fewer joints and cleaner lines. At 21 mm the board is slimmer than PuraPro, which keeps it light to handle on long runs. As a composite board it has no splinters and needs no yearly treatment, unlike a timber board of the same width. Enter your deck area in the calculator on the product page and it works out how many boards you need; the cart adds the clips, fixings and extras.

            How PuraPlus Is Made

PuraPlus is a mono-extruded board: one blend of wood fibre and HDPE, a tough polyethylene plastic, pressed through a single die, with square chambers running the length of the core. It is the same construction as PuraPro, so the difference between the two is the width and the look, not the strength. There is no protective cap, so the surface wears well but not to the level of a co-extruded (capped) board, which has a polymer shell bonded over the core.

            PuraPlus Colours

All five colours come in the same 145×21 mm board. On a wide board the colour reads across a bigger surface, so look at it in daylight before you decide:

            • Silver Ash: a soft, pale grey like weathered driftwood, for shaded decks and contemporary builds.
            • Slate Grey: a cool, slightly blue grey that reads as architectural beside modern render.
            • Charcoal: a deep, even grey that stops short of black, as on PuraPlus Charcoal decking.
            • Oak: a warm mid-tan that suits generous terraces beside stone and brick, as on PuraPlus Oak decking.
            • Walnut: a mid to dark brown with warm undertones, the closest of the five to hardwood.

PuraPlus vs PuraPro and the Rest of the Range

PuraPlus sits just above our entry board. Both are square hollow boards in the same five colours, so compare them by cost per m² rather than per board:

            • PuraPro composite decking: 135×25 mm, thicker and narrower, the best value for a smaller back garden.
            • PuraPlus: 145×21 mm, for big terraces where the extra width saves joints and fitting time.
            • PuraPrime composite decking: 140×22 mm, a reinforced round hollow board with a finer grain, if you want the stiffest hollow board we stock.
            • PuraShield composite decking: 138×22.5 mm, capped all round against stains and fading, with the widest choice of lengths in the range.
            • Puraboard solid composite decking: 175×22 mm, a wider solid polyurethane board with no wood and no hollow chambers.

            Slip Resistance and Fire Rating

PuraPlus was pendulum tested to BS 7976-2 on both faces and scored 36 to 52 PTV, wet and dry, which falls in the low slip risk band. PTV is the pendulum test value: the higher the number, the more grip. It is classed Cfl-s1 under EN 13501-1, the European reaction-to-fire class for floorings, the same as PuraPro and PuraPrime.

            Fitting a PuraPlus Deck

PuraPlus goes down on hidden clips. The PuraPlus installation manual has the joist tables and the detailing for edges and steps; the basics are:

            • Joists: build the frame level and true, space the joists at 350 mm centres or closer and keep the spacing even on composite or timber decking joists, because a wide board shows any unevenness.
            • Clips and screws: PuraFix hidden clips at every joist and colour-matched screws for steps and cut ends, from our decking screws and fixings.
            • Gaps: composite grows and shrinks with temperature, so leave about 3 mm between boards, 5 mm at board ends and 20 mm at walls.
            • Raised or roof decks: level the frame on adjustable decking pedestals.
            • Edges: cover the hollow ends with matching decking trims and fascia; our composite corner trims come in the same five colours.

            Care and Maintenance

PuraPlus never needs oiling, staining or sanding, so there is no yearly treatment to plan around. Sweep it regularly so grit does not scratch the surface, and clear planters and mats now and then so the boards dry evenly underneath. Wash it with warm water and a stiff brush a couple of times a year and rinse off fallen leaves in autumn. The colour settles into its long-term tone within the first year, so order all your boards together for one production batch. PuraPlus is backed by a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for residential use and 10 years for commercial use.

PuraPlus is one of five ranges in our composite decking collection. See every colour in our Dublin showroom and collect there, or have your order delivered anywhere in Ireland.

Frequently Asked Questions About PuraPlus Composite Decking

Enter your deck area in the calculator on any PuraPlus product page and it works out how many boards you need, and the cart adds the matching extras when you add the boards. The wider board means fewer boards and fewer joints than a narrower deck board over the same area.

No. PuraPlus never needs oiling or staining; a periodic wash and brush keeps it clean. The colour settles into its long-term tone within the first year, and the PuraPlus care guide lists the approved cleaning products.

Yes. PuraPlus is classed Cfl-s1 under EN 13501-1, the same as PuraPro and PuraPrime. The “fl” means it was tested as a floor covering, and C is a middle class on the European reaction-to-fire scale, which runs from A1 (non-combustible) down to F. The s1 part means very low smoke.

Yes, where the structure below can carry a deck. On a balcony, flat roof or uneven slab, the joists usually sit on adjustable pedestals instead of being fixed down. Our PuraFix pedestals come in four height ranges, and you twist each one to level the frame.

PuraPlus carries a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for residential use and 10 years for commercial use. That is the same cover as PuraPro, so choose between them on board width and cost per m². Keep your receipt with the PuraPlus installation manual.
