PuraFence Royal Slatted Composite Fencing
PuraFence Royal slatted composite fencing is our design-led composite fence: co-extruded boards with a slatted face that turn each bay into a run of horizontal lines, with nothing to paint or stain. Each kit fills one 1900 mm bay with 12 boards of 161×20 mm, in Cedar, Teak, Light Grey, Dark Grey or Ebony Black, on a 1.9 m base-plate or 2.5 m in-ground post, with a matching gate. Stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Slatted Composite Fence Panels from PuraFence Royal
PuraFence Royal is our slatted composite fencing, and the design-led range in the PuraFence system. Where Classic gives you one flat plane, Royal breaks each bay into horizontal slats, so a boundary reads as a run of lines rather than a wall. It suits modern gardens, contemporary houses and planting along the boundary, anywhere a solid fence would feel heavy. Each panel looks the same from both sides, so your neighbour sees the same finished fence that you do. Choose Royal when the fence is part of the design, not just the edge of the plot.
If what you need most is a plain, private fence, our solid PuraFence Classic composite fencing is the core range and the simpler choice. Both use the same posts at 1900 mm centres, so you can run Classic along the side boundaries and bring Royal in where the fence is on show, such as around a patio or at the front.
What Makes a Royal Board
Royal boards are co-extruded, like every PuraFence board. Two materials go through the die together: a composite core, and a polyethylene layer wrapped around every face. That outer layer is what takes the weather, so it holds the colour through strong sun and keeps dirt on the surface, where a wash lifts it off. Inside, each board is hollow, with three rectangular chambers behind the slatted face.
The finish is brushed, and the colour belongs to the board rather than a paint or stain, so there is nothing to flake and nothing to redo each spring. It runs right through the body too, so a scratch doesn’t reveal a different core. A timber fence panel costs less on the day but needs oiling to keep its colour. Royal costs more once and then simply needs a wash.
Composite Fence Slats in Kit Form
Each Royal kit builds one bay at 1900 mm post centres, measured from the middle of one post to the middle of the next. Everything for the bay comes together:
- 12 slatted composite boards: each 161×20 mm and sized to the bay, they stack between two posts to make a panel roughly 1.9 m high.
- 1 H-profile post: an aluminium post with a slot down each side, so one post closes a bay and opens the next.
- 1 post cap and 1 base plate: the base plate carries the panel, and the cap finishes the post.
Add one extra post to finish the run, from our composite fence posts range. A 5.7 m fence is three bays: three kits and one extra post.
Base-Plate or In-Ground Kit?
Every Royal colour comes in two kit versions, so choose by the ground you are building on. The 1900 mm base-plate kit has a 1.9 m post that stands on a base plate fixed to a paved or solid foundation, for patios and slabs where you can’t dig. The 2500 mm in-ground kit has a 2.5 m post with 60 cm set in concrete, which leaves the same height above ground. It holds far better against wind, so choose it on exposed sites wherever you can dig.
Royal Colours, with Cedar
Royal comes in five colours, one more than Classic, and the slatted gate comes in all five. Cedar is made in Royal only:
- Cedar: a soft, mid-honey timber tone that reads as wood at first glance, as on the Royal Cedar panel kit.
- Teak: a rich, mid-warm timber tone with a hint of red-brown, for the look of mature hardwood.
- Light Grey: a clean, neutral pale grey that keeps a boundary bright.
- Dark Grey: a deep anthracite with a slightly cool edge, as on the Royal Dark Grey panel kit.
- Ebony Black: a true deep black with a fine grain, for a fence that is a feature rather than a backdrop.
If you are set on real wood, compare our hardwood fence panels, which most people oil to hold the colour.
Royal Slatted Gates
The Royal slatted composite gate ships flat with the frame parts, four slatted boards, hinges, a latch and the assembly fixings. You cut each board into three and stack the twelve lengths into the frame, which gives the gate the same slat rhythm as the fence. It hangs between two H-profile posts set to the spacing in the PuraFence gate guide, so order those posts with it. For a timber entrance, see our garden gates.
Single Royal Boards
Royal boards are sold singly too, at the same 161×20 mm face size as the kit boards. Use them to make up an odd-width bay, to raise a panel above the standard height, or to replace a damaged slat without buying a whole kit. They fit PuraFence H-profile posts only, not timber posts.
Installing and Caring for Royal
Royal goes up exactly like Classic, bay by bay:
- Set out at 1900 mm centres and plumb every post before the concrete sets.
- Leave the expansion gap the installation guide gives for the day’s temperature, from 4 mm at 0 °C to 2 mm at 20 °C.
- Cap every post once the bays are full, to finish the run.
- Wash every 3 to 6 months with warm soapy water and a soft brush; keep a pressure washer under 1,500 PSI and 300 mm away.
There is no painting or staining to plan for. PuraFence Royal is backed by a 20 year manufacturer warranty. See how Royal and Classic compare on our PuraFence composite fencing page, or browse all our composite fence panels. Every Royal colour is stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.
Frequently Asked Questions About PuraFence Royal Slatted Composite Fencing
Can I fit Royal boards to my existing timber posts?
No. Royal boards are sized to drop into the slots of PuraFence H-profile posts at 1900 mm centres, and they are not interchangeable with timber-post systems. Plan the run on PuraFence posts: each kit includes one post, and you add one extra post to finish the run.
Can I mix Royal and Classic panels in one fence?
Yes. Both ranges are made for the same PuraFence H-profile posts at 1900 mm centres, so one run can combine slatted Royal bays with solid Classic bays on the same post system. Match the colour across both, bearing in mind that Cedar is only made in Royal.
How big is a Royal fence board?
Each slatted board is 161×20 mm, sized to fit the bay, and a standard 1900 mm bay uses 12 of them. The boards are also sold singly, so you can make up an odd-width bay, raise a panel above the standard height or replace a damaged slat without buying a whole kit.
What posts does a Royal gate need?
The gate hangs between two PuraFence H-profile posts set to a gate-specific spacing, with the hinges fixed through one post and the latch lined up on the closing post. Order the gate and its posts together, and follow the PuraFence gate installation guide for the spacing.
What is the difference between PuraFence Royal and Classic?
Both use co-extruded boards of 161×20 mm, the same posts and the same 1900 mm kits. Classic has a flat face for a plain, solid fence in four colours. Royal has a slatted face that reads as horizontal lines, adds Cedar as a fifth colour and sits above Classic as our design-led range.
What warranty does PuraFence Royal have?
PuraFence Royal carries a 20 year manufacturer warranty, the same as the solid Classic range, and it applies to the panel kits, single boards, gates and posts alike. The capped boards never need painting or staining, so a wash every 3 to 6 months keeps the slats looking sharp.
