              PuraFence Fence Posts

PuraFence composite fence posts are the aluminium H-profile posts that every PuraFence panel slides into, sold singly for the extra post that finishes a run and the two that hang a gate. Choose the 1.9 m post for base-plate fixing on a paved or solid foundation, or the 2.5 m post to set in concrete with 60 cm below ground. Both take Classic and Royal boards. Stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Composite Fence Posts for the PuraFence System

These are the posts every PuraFence composite fence is built on. Each one is an aluminium post, 75×75 mm, with an H-profile: a slot runs down each side, so one post holds the edge of two panels at once. The composite boards slide straight into the slots, with no brackets, rails or screws on the face, and every post closes one bay and opens the next. The result is a clean fence line where the posts read as slim dividers between panels.

The same post takes both ranges: solid PuraFence Classic composite fencing and slatted PuraFence Royal slatted composite fencing. PuraFence boards are not interchangeable with timber-post systems, so plan the whole run on these posts rather than mixing them with existing timber or concrete posts.

Base Plate or In-Ground: Which Post You Need

The post length follows how you fix it, and it matches the kit version you choose. Both leave the same height above ground. On a patio or slab where you can’t dig, use the 1.9 m H-profile post, which stands on a base plate fixed to a paved or solid foundation. Wherever you can dig, choose the 2.5 m post instead: 60 cm is sunk into the ground and set in concrete, which anchors it far more securely against wind, so it is the one for exposed sites.

                How Many Posts to Order

Every panel kit already includes one post, so you only buy posts here for two jobs. The last bay of a run needs a post at both ends, so add one extra post to every run. Each Classic or Royal gate needs two posts of its own, set to the gate spacing in the PuraFence gate guide. A 7.6 m straight fence, for example, is four kits and one extra post, plus two more posts for each gate.

                Setting the Posts

The posts are the only part of a PuraFence run that needs real care, because they set the spacing for everything else. Mark every position at 1900 mm centres before you dig, then plumb each post in both directions before the concrete sets: once it cures, the gap to the next post is fixed. Fit a post cap to finish each top once the boards are in. The aluminium posts need no painting; a wash with the rest of the fence every 3 to 6 months keeps them looking the same as the boards.

Comparing systems? Our timber fence panels use their own timber or concrete posts, while PuraFence posts only take PuraFence boards. See all our composite fence panels. For the full PuraFence system, kits, gates and boards, see PuraFence composite fencing. Posts are stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Frequently Asked Questions About PuraFence Fence Posts

No. They are aluminium H-profile posts made for PuraFence composite fencing, and the composite boards slide into their slots. They are the only posts PuraFence boards fit, so every PuraFence run, gates included, is built on them.

Panel posts go at 1900 mm centres, measured from the middle of one post to the middle of the next, because every kit and board is sized for that bay. Gate posts are the exception: set them to the gate-specific spacing in the PuraFence gate installation guide, and order them with the gate.

No. 60 cm of the 2.5 m post goes into the ground, which leaves 1.9 m standing above it, the same as the 1.9 m post on a base plate. The extra length is there to anchor the post in concrete, not to make the fence taller.

The aluminium posts need no painting. Wash the posts with the rest of the fence every 3 to 6 months using warm soapy water and a soft brush, and check each post at the base once a year, particularly on exposed sites.
