            PuraFence Classic Composite Fencing

PuraFence Classic composite fencing is our solid composite fence panel: flat, brushed, co-extruded boards that interlock into one continuous panel for full privacy, with nothing to paint or stain. Each kit fills one 1900 mm bay with 12 boards of 161×20 mm, in Teak, Light Grey, Dark Grey or Ebony Black, on a 1.9 m base-plate or 2.5 m in-ground post, with a matching gate. Stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Solid Composite Fence Panels from PuraFence Classic

PuraFence Classic is the flat board in the PuraFence range, and the one to choose when a fence has to give you privacy. There is no groove in the face, so each bay reads as one clean plane rather than a run of lines. The boards interlock edge to edge as they stack between the posts, so a finished panel closes into itself with no gaps to see through. It is our core composite fence: the straightforward, full-privacy boundary for back gardens, patios and side passages.

If you would rather the fence read as a run of horizontal lines, step up to PuraFence Royal slatted composite fencing, our design-led range with a grooved, slatted face and Cedar as a fifth colour. Both ranges use the same posts and the same 1900 mm bays, so you can also mix Classic and Royal along one boundary.

How a Classic Board Is Made

Every Classic board is co-extruded. That means two materials are pushed through the die together: a composite core, and a polyethylene layer that wraps every face of it. The outer layer is the part that meets the weather, so it holds the colour through strong sun and keeps rain and dirt on the surface, where a wash takes them off. Inside, the board is hollow, with five rectangular chambers that keep it light and straight without loading the posts.

The finish is brushed, a fine directional texture that reads like planed timber from a few metres away. The colour is part of the board rather than a paint or stain, so there is no coating to flake and nothing to redo every spring. It runs right through the body too, so a scratch doesn’t reveal a different core. Next to treated timber fence panels, Classic costs more to put up, and in return you skip the yearly oiling for good.

              Classic Panel Kits and Sizes

Each kit builds one bay of fence at 1900 mm post centres, the distance from the middle of one post to the middle of the next. Everything for that bay is in the kit, sized to fit:

              • 12 composite boards: each 161×20 mm and sized to the bay, they stack on edge between two posts to make a panel roughly 1.9 m high.
              • 1 H-profile post: an aluminium post with a slot down each side, so one post closes a bay and opens the next.
              • 1 base plate and 1 post cap: the panel sits on the base plate, and the cap finishes the top of the post.

Because every post starts a new bay, you add one extra post to finish the run. A 7.6 m fence is four bays: four kits plus one extra post from our composite fence posts range.

              Base-Plate or In-Ground Kit?

Every Classic colour comes in two kit versions, and the only difference is how the post is fixed. The 1900 mm base-plate kit has a 1.9 m post that stands on a base plate fixed to a paved or solid foundation, so it is the one for patios and slabs where you can’t dig. The 2500 mm in-ground kit has a 2.5 m post with 60 cm set in concrete, which leaves the same height above ground. It anchors far more securely against wind, so choose it on exposed sites wherever you can dig.

Classic Colours: Two Greys, Black and Teak

Classic comes in four colours, and the matching gate comes in the same four, so the fence and the gate read as one boundary. Grey composite fencing is the look most people ask for, and Classic gives you two greys to choose from:

              • Light Grey: a clean, neutral pale grey that keeps a boundary bright against rendered walls.
              • Dark Grey: a deep anthracite with a slightly cool edge, as on the Classic Dark Grey panel kit.
              • Ebony Black: a true deep black with a fine grain, for a fence that is a feature rather than a backdrop.
              • Teak: a rich, mid-warm timber tone with a hint of red-brown, for the look of hardwood without the upkeep.

Cedar is made in the Royal range only. If you want real wood in a warm tone, compare our hardwood fence panels, which most people oil to keep their colour.

              Classic Gates for Side Passages

The matching Classic composite gate is a flat-pack kit with the frame parts, four composite boards, hinges, a latch and the assembly fixings. You build the frame square on site and cut the boards to fit, so have a saw ready. It makes a solid side gate that closes the fence line without a break in the privacy, in the same four colours as the panels. The gate hangs between two H-profile posts set to the spacing in the PuraFence gate installation guide, so order those posts with the gate. For a timber entrance instead, see our garden gates.

              Composite Fence Boards Sold Singly

Classic boards are also sold one at a time, at the same 161×20 mm face size as the kit boards. Use them to make up an odd-width bay at the end of a run, to raise a panel above the standard height, or to replace a damaged board without buying a whole kit. They are made for PuraFence H-profile posts only, so they can’t be slotted into an existing run of timber posts.

              Installing and Looking After Classic

A Classic run goes up bay by bay: set the posts at 1900 mm centres, slide 12 boards into each bay, then cap the posts. A few habits make the difference:

              • Plumb every post before the concrete sets: once it cures, the spacing to the next post is fixed.
              • Leave the expansion gap: the installation guide sets it by the temperature on the day, from 4 mm at 0 °C down to 2 mm at 20 °C.
              • Allow about 10% for cutting: if you are making up odd bays, a few spare single boards save a second delivery.
              • Wash every 3 to 6 months: warm soapy water and a soft brush. Keep a pressure washer under 1,500 PSI and at least 300 mm from the surface.

There is no painting, staining or oiling to plan for. PuraFence Classic is backed by a 20 year manufacturer warranty. Compare Classic and Royal side by side on our PuraFence composite fencing page, or see every style of composite fence panels we stock. Every Classic colour is stocked in our Dublin warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Frequently Asked Questions About PuraFence Classic Composite Fencing

Each bay stacks 12 boards, each 161 mm deep, into a panel roughly 1.9 m high, a little over 6 ft, between posts at 1900 mm centres. If you want it taller, Classic boards are also sold singly, so you can raise a panel above the standard height.

No. Classic boards are sized to drop into the slots of PuraFence H-profile posts at 1900 mm centres, and they are not interchangeable with timber-post systems. Plan the run on PuraFence posts: each kit includes one, and you add one extra post to finish the run.

Yes. Single Classic boards are sold for exactly this, so you can make up an odd-width bay at the end of a run. The same single boards let you replace a damaged board without buying a whole kit, or match an existing Classic fence exactly.

The gate hangs between two PuraFence H-profile posts set to a gate-specific spacing, with the hinges fixed through one post and the latch lined up on the closing post. Order the gate and its posts together, and follow the PuraFence gate installation guide for the spacing.

No. Classic boards have a flat face and interlock edge to edge as they stack, so each bay closes into one solid panel roughly 1.9 m high with no gaps between the boards. That makes Classic the range to choose for full privacy on a boundary, a patio or a side passage.

PuraFence Classic carries a 20 year manufacturer warranty, the same as the slatted Royal range, and it applies to the panel kits, single boards, gates and posts alike. The capped boards never need painting or staining, so a wash every 3 to 6 months is all the care the fence asks for.
