              PuraPrime Composite Decking

PuraPrime composite decking is our mid-range round hollow deck board, for dining areas and busy family terraces where you want a stiffer deck that flexes less underfoot. Every board is 140×22 mm, has a wood grain face and a ribbed anti-slip reverse, and comes in five colours with a matching edge board. Stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

                Round Hollow Composite Decking

PuraPrime composite decking is the hollow board to choose when the deck has to feel solid. Its six chambers are round rather than square, and the board is reinforced around them. A square chamber carries load along its walls but concentrates stress at its corners, while a round chamber spreads the load through the curve, so the board is stiffer for the same amount of material. You feel it as less flex underfoot and a more substantial deck, without the weight of a fully solid board.

PuraPrime sits in the middle of our composite range: a step up from the square hollow PuraPro and PuraPlus, below the capped PuraShield and the solid Puraboard. It suits outdoor dining areas, family terraces that get daily use and any deck where the feel underfoot matters.

                Why Choose PuraPrime?

Hollow composite decking takes material out of the core to save weight and cost. How much it takes out, and in what shape, decides how the deck feels. Here is how PuraPrime compares:

                • Less air in the board: the round chambers leave far more material in the section than the square chambers of PuraPro and PuraPlus, which is where the stiffness comes from.
                • Reinforced section: the board is reinforced around each chamber, which is the other half of why it flexes less than a square hollow board.
                • Colour through the mass: the colour runs right through the board, so a scuff or a cut end shows the same shade.
                • Finest grain: PuraPrime has the most natural wood grain of our uncapped boards.

                Anti-Slip Reverse Face

PuraPrime is reversible. The top face carries a wood grain texture, and the reverse has a fine ribbed profile made for grip. Pendulum tests to EN 15534 rate the board at least 36 PTV, wet and dry, which is a low slip potential. PTV is the pendulum test value: the higher the number, the more grip. That makes it the board to choose when you need non slip composite decking: on a shaded north-facing deck, round a pool or on steps, lay the ribbed face up for the most grip.

                Sizes and Colours

Every PuraPrime board is 140×22 mm, so you choose on colour. Enter your area in the calculator on the product page and it works out how many boards you need; the cart adds the fixings and extras. Each shade has a matching edge board, which lets you frame the deck in the same colour or a contrast:

                • Silver Ash: a soft, pale grey like weathered driftwood, which lifts a shaded deck.
                • Slate Grey: a cool, slightly blue grey for modern render and dark window frames, as on PuraPrime Slate Grey decking.
                • Charcoal: a deep, even grey that stops short of black.
                • Oak: a warm mid-tan that sits well beside sandstone, brick and cream render.
                • Walnut: a mid to dark brown, the darkest of the five and the closest to a hardwood deck, as on PuraPrime Walnut decking.

PuraPrime vs Square Hollow and Solid Boards

PuraPro and PuraPlus share PuraPrime’s five colours, and as entry boards they cost less per m². Choose PuraPro composite decking for the best value on a back garden, or PuraPlus composite decking for a wide board that saves joints on a large terrace. Choose PuraPrime when stiffness, grip and a finer grain matter more than the lowest cost.

PuraPrime is still an uncapped board, with no protective shell, so for a deck in full sun or beside a barbecue step up to the capped PuraShield composite decking. PuraPrime edges are finished with its matching edge board. Puraboard is the only board we stock that can be ripped, routed and left with shaped edges, so if you want that kind of detail, choose Puraboard solid composite decking.

Fitting and Finishing a PuraPrime Deck

PuraPrime goes down on hidden clips, so the surface is free of screw heads. The PuraPrime installation manual has the full detail; the basics are:

                • Joists: space them at 350 mm centres, measured from the middle of one joist to the next, on composite or timber decking joists, or on adjustable decking pedestals over a slab or roof.
                • Clips: one PuraFix hidden clip per joist, from our decking screws and fixings.
                • Gaps: composite grows and shrinks with temperature, so leave about 3 mm between boards, 5 mm at board ends and 20 mm at walls.
                • Edges: the PuraPrime edge board wraps the outer edge with a rounded bullnose and dresses step nosings, and our decking trims and fascia finish the corners.

PuraPrime is classed Cfl-s1 under EN 13501-1, the European fire class for floorings, the same as PuraPro and PuraPlus. It never needs oiling or staining: wash it with warm water and a soft brush when needed. PuraPrime carries a 15 year manufacturer warranty.

PuraPrime is one of five ranges in our composite decking collection. See the boards and edge boards together in our Dublin showroom, or order online for delivery across Ireland.

Frequently Asked Questions About PuraPrime Composite Decking

Enter your deck area in the calculator on any PuraPrime product page and it works out how many boards you need, and the cart adds the matching extras for you. If you are framing the deck with the matching edge board, measure the outside edge as well.

Yes. PuraPrime is classed Cfl-s1 under EN 13501-1, the same as PuraPro and PuraPlus. The “fl” means it was tested as a floor covering, and C is a middle class on the European reaction-to-fire scale, which runs from A1 (non-combustible) down to F. The s1 part means very low smoke.

Wash it with warm water and a brush when needed; it never needs oiling or staining, and the colour settles into its long-term tone within the first year. Skip the pressure washer and avoid wire brushes, which can score the surface.

Yes, where the structure below can carry a deck. On a balcony, flat roof or uneven slab, the joists usually sit on adjustable pedestals instead of being fixed down. Our PuraFix pedestals come in four height ranges, and you twist each one to level the frame.

PuraPrime carries a 15 year manufacturer warranty. If you want longer cover, the capped PuraShield board carries 25 years for residential use. Keep your receipt with the PuraPrime installation manual, so you have both to hand if you ever need to make a claim.
