PuraTech 55 Composite Cladding
PuraTech 55 composite cladding is the double slat board in our PuraTech range. Each 170×33 mm board carries two 55 mm slats, for a bold, calm rhythm on house walls, extensions and taller elevations. It is capped and co-extruded, so there is no oiling or staining, and it is rated Euroclass D-s1,d0, the higher fire class of the two PuraTech boards. Choose from six colours, stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

PuraTech 55 Double Slat Cladding
PuraTech 55 is the board to choose when the wall is big or seen from a distance. Each board carries two wide 55 mm slats, so a finished wall reads as a confident run of broad battens with a clear shadow between them. A finer pattern can blur into a flat surface on a two-storey gable; the wider slats keep their shape. It suits modern houses, extensions and tall elevations.
How PuraTech 55 Differs from PuraTech 30
Both PuraTech boards share the same 170×33 mm section, capped brushed surface, six colours, fixings and trims. The numbers are slat widths: PuraTech 55 has two 55 mm slats on each board and four hollow chambers inside; PuraTech 30 composite slatted cladding has three narrower 30 mm slats and three chambers.
That changes the look and the fire class. PuraTech 55 gives a bolder, calmer line; PuraTech 30 gives a finer texture that rewards a close view at an entrance or garden room. PuraTech 55 is rated Euroclass D-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1: class D for its reaction to fire, s1 for very limited smoke and d0 for no flaming droplets. PuraTech 30 is rated Euroclass E, so PuraTech 55 is the PuraTech board to choose when a specification asks for class D.
PuraTech 55 Colours
All six colours have a brushed, multi-tone finish, so a large wall looks like a natural material rather than a print:
- Light Grey: a clean, neutral pale grey that sits naturally against render and stays bright on overcast days.
- Dark Grey: a deep anthracite with a cool edge that still reads as grey rather than black.
- Ebony Black: a true deep black with a fine grain, for cladding meant to be the feature of the building.
- Cedar: a soft, mid-honey tone that reads as wood at first glance and warms up a modern build.
- Teak: a richer mid-warm tone with a red-brown depth, the look of mature hardwood.
- Ipé: a deep, warm chocolate brown, the darkest of the wood tones.
What the Board Size Means for Your Wall
At 33 mm, PuraTech is the thickest composite cladding we sell, which gives the two slats their strong shadow, and the hollow core keeps each board light to handle. Each colour comes in more than one length, so choose yours on the product page; on a wide wall, plan the end joints so each falls on a double batten. Enter your wall area in the calculator on the product page and it works out how many boards you need; the cart adds the matching extras.
Installing PuraTech 55
PuraTech 55 fixes to cladding battens at 400 to 600 mm centres over a ventilated cavity of at least 20 mm, with the lowest board at least 100 mm above the ground. Concealed screws go through the fixing groove, so no heads show on the face; stainless screws are in our cladding screws. Leave 5 mm at board ends and around windows and pipes, and finish corners, reveals and cut ends with PuraTech corner and end trims from our cladding trims.
Caring for PuraTech 55
There is no oil or stain to renew. Wash the wall with warm soapy water and a soft brush once or twice a year, and keep the vents at the top and bottom of the cavity clear. The wider slats hold less dust than the finer PuraTech 30 profile. PuraTech 55 is backed by a 20 year manufacturer warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions About PuraTech 55 Composite Cladding
What does the 55 in PuraTech 55 mean?
It is the slat width. Each PuraTech 55 board is 170×33 mm and carries two 55 mm slats. PuraTech 30 is the same size board with three 30 mm slats, so the numbers describe the look, not the board.
What fire rating does PuraTech 55 have?
PuraTech 55 is rated Euroclass D-s1,d0 under EN 13501-1: class D for reaction to fire, s1 for very limited smoke and d0 for no flaming droplets. That is one class above PuraTech 30, which is rated Euroclass E. Where a project needs Euroclass B, look at our PuraClassic composite cladding.
Should I choose PuraTech 55 or PuraTech 30?
Choose PuraTech 55 for large or tall walls seen from a distance, or when a specification asks for class D. Choose PuraTech 30 for a finer, more textured look at entrances, porches and garden rooms seen close up. Both come in the same six colours and use the same fixings and trims, so you can use each where it works best on one house.
How many PuraTech 55 boards do I need?
Enter your wall area in the calculator on the product page and it works out the number of boards; the cart adds the matching extras. Every PuraTech 55 colour comes in more than one length, so choose yours on the product page, and every end joint needs a double batten behind it.
What warranty does PuraTech 55 have?
PuraTech 55 carries a 20 year manufacturer warranty, the same as the triple slat PuraTech 30, so the choice between the two profiles comes down to the look and the fire class you need. Keep your receipt with the PuraTech installation manual.
