                      ABS Edging

ABS is the workshop standard for edge banding: tougher than melamine, more forgiving under a trimmer, and free of the PVC that many specifications now exclude. Our rolls are 23×0.8 mm on 75 m reels, colour and texture matched to the Egger MFC décors we carry, so a Tobacco Halifax Oak edge meets a Tobacco Halifax Oak face. Over 100 décors held in Dublin.

Frequently Asked Questions About ABS Edging

Every roll is 23 mm wide and 0.8 mm thick, on a 75 m reel. The 23 mm width covers the edge of a standard 18 mm board with a small margin to trim flush.

Apply it with an edgebander using hot melt or PUR adhesive, or with a contact adhesive for smaller runs. Once it has bonded, trim the overhang flush with the face of the board.

ABS is tougher and more impact resistant than melamine edging, so it shrugs off the knocks that chip a cabinet edge over time. It is also more forgiving under a trimmer, which helps you get a clean flush edge.

Each roll is named after the Egger décor and texture it matches, for example Norwich Oak ST19. Match the décor name and texture code on the roll to your board and the face and edge will read as one surface.

Add up the length of every exposed edge on your cutting list, including shelf fronts and door edges. One roll gives you 75 m, which covers a lot of cabinet work before you need a second.
