PuraTech 30 Composite Slatted Cladding

Composite slatted cladding gives a wall the look of a run of narrow battens, with a shadow line between each one, without the oiling and upkeep that timber slats need. PuraTech 30 is the board to choose when you want that texture to be seen up close. Each board carries three 30 mm slats, so a finished wall reads as a tight, layered rhythm. Low morning and evening light pulls the shadows out, and the effect is strongest on south and west facing walls and in the darker colours.

It suits contemporary new builds, renovations that need to add character to a flat wall, and entrances and garden rooms seen from a few metres away. If you would rather have a calm, flat wall, a tongue and groove board will suit you better.

How PuraTech Composite Cladding Is Made

PuraTech is a wood plastic composite (WPC), a blend of wood fibre and plastic, made by co-extrusion. A composite core and a tough polymer cap are extruded together, so the cap is bonded all the way around the board. The cap is the part the sun and rain touch: it resists staining, holds its colour and wipes clean, while the core gives the board its stiffness. Inside, three hollow chambers run the full length of each PuraTech 30 board, which keeps it light enough to lift into place on a scaffold.

PuraTech 30 vs PuraTech 55

PuraTech is the only slatted composite cladding we stock, and it comes in two profiles. The numbers are slat widths, not board sizes. Both boards share the same 170×33 mm face size, capped brushed surface, six colours, fixings and trims, so the choice comes down to the look you want and the fire class your project needs.

PuraTech 30: narrow triple slat

Three 30 mm slats on every board give a fine, busy rhythm that rewards a close view, at an entrance, on a garden room or beside a terrace. PuraTech 30 is rated Euroclass E under EN 13501-1, the European reaction to fire scale, which suits most domestic work.

PuraTech 55: wider double slat

PuraTech 55 double slat composite cladding has two wider 55 mm slats and four chambers inside. It gives a bolder, calmer line that keeps its shape on tall walls and from a distance, where a finer pattern can blur into a flat surface. It is rated Euroclass D-s1,d0, one class higher than PuraTech 30, so choose it when a specification asks for class D.

PuraTech 30 Colours

All six colours have a brushed, multi-tone finish, so a large wall looks like a natural material rather than a print:

• Light Grey: a clean, neutral pale grey that sits naturally against render and stays bright on overcast days.
• Dark Grey: a deep anthracite with a cool edge that still reads as grey rather than black.
• Ebony Black: a true deep black with a fine grain, for cladding meant to be the feature of the building.
• Cedar: a soft, mid-honey tone that reads as wood at first glance and warms up a modern build.
• Teak: a richer mid-warm tone with a red-brown depth, the look of mature hardwood.
• Ipé: a deep, warm chocolate brown, the darkest of the wood tones.

What the Board Size Means for Your Wall

At 33 mm, PuraTech is the thickest composite cladding we sell, which is what makes room for proper slats, and the hollow core keeps each board light to handle. Installing Composite Slat Cladding

PuraTech 30 fixes to cladding battens at 400 to 600 mm centres over a ventilated cavity of at least 20 mm, with the lowest board at least 100 mm above the ground. Concealed screws go through the fixing groove, so no heads show on the slats; stainless screws are in our cladding screws. Leave 5 mm at board ends and around windows and pipes, and finish corners, reveals and cut ends with PuraTech corner and end trims from our cladding trims.

Caring for PuraTech 30

There is no oil or stain to renew. Wash the wall with warm soapy water and a soft brush once or twice a year. The narrow slats catch a little more dust than a flat board, so give sheltered walls an extra rinse, and keep the vents at the top and bottom of the cavity clear.
