        MicroShades Decking

MicroShades decking is a treated softwood decking board that arrives factory finished, so you can lay it and use it the same day with no treatment on site. The board is 144×32 mm, with a smooth face on one side and a grooved face on the other. It suits garden decks, terraces and walkways, and is stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

MicroShades Decking for Sale in Ireland

MicroShades is a range of treated softwood that is finished in the factory before it reaches you. The protective treatment penetrates deep into the timber rather than sitting on the surface, and the colour is applied under controlled conditions, so every board arrives in a consistent tone with no patchy results. With a service life of 20 years and beyond, MicroShades decking gives you the performance of treated softwood without waiting for good weather to finish it.

It is the right choice when time on site is short, or when you simply want a deck that looks finished from the day it goes down.

          MicroShades decking board size

MicroShades decking comes in one generous board, 144×32 mm, and at 32 mm thick it feels solid underfoot on most garden decks. One face is smooth and the other grooved, so you decide on site: smooth side up for a clean, modern finish, or grooved side up for a traditional ribbed deck. Choose the length on the product page, where longer boards mean fewer end joins on long runs, and enter your deck area in the calculator there; it works out how many boards you need, and the cart adds the fixings and extras.

          Why choose MicroShades decking

A factory applied finish is more uniform and better bonded than anything brushed on outdoors. You skip the wait for a dry spell, skip the first coat of oil and skip the drying time, so the deck is ready to use as soon as the last screw is in. It is the same finish used across the MicroShades range, so a deck can match MicroShades cladding, battens and fencing on the same property.

          MicroShades vs other timber decking

MicroShades is the ready finished option in our timber decking range. Compare it with:

          • Ecowood decking: kiln-dried Red Class softwood in a natural honey-brown, which most people oil after laying.
          • Cedar decking: naturally durable Western Red Cedar with a premium Clear Heart grade.
          • Yellow Balau decking: a dense tropical hardwood for heavy use.

          Installing MicroShades decking

MicroShades arrives ready to fix, so installing it is purely a building job. For the frame, the matching MicroShades joists come in 100×44 mm and 150×44 mm:

          • Space the joists at a maximum of 400 mm centres for a residential deck, or 300 mm or less where the deck will carry heavier loads.
          • Fix with A2 or A4 stainless steel screws and pre-drill near the board ends.
          • Reseal every cut end with touch-up sealer so the factory treatment stays continuous.

Screws and trims are in our decking accessories, and framing timber is in our decking substructures.

          Looking after MicroShades decking

Because the finish is applied in the factory, a MicroShades deck needs very little in its first years. To keep the colour deep and the protection working, give it a refresh coat every two or three years, using maintenance products that pair with the factory finish from our exterior oils and stains. A regular sweep keeps leaves and grit off the surface so it dries quickly after rain.

MicroShades is one of the options in our timber decking range, stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Frequently Asked Questions About MicroShades Decking

No treatment is needed before or after you lay it. Every board arrives factory finished, with the protective treatment already applied and penetrated into the timber, so the deck looks finished from day one. Reseal any cut ends, and plan a refresh coat every two or three years to keep the colour deep.

Reseal any exposed end grain with a touch-up sealer after cutting. This keeps the factory treatment continuous across the board.

A refresh coat every two or three years keeps the colour depth and the protection. Use maintenance products that pair with the factory finish, such as those in our oils and stains range, so the refreshed surface matches the original.
