Tebo Marine Plywood Sheet
Tebo Marine plywood is the panel you specify when failure isn’t an option. Built from high-quality face and core veneers with very few defects, it’s designed to live in humid and wet conditions and keep performing, resisting the delamination and fungal attack that finish off ordinary plywood. At 4 mm, you have a panel rated for the toughest exposed-environment work. We stock it in our yard in Dublin, ready for fast delivery anywhere in Ireland.
Why Tebo Marine plywood?
This panel is Okoume throughout Plywood IAW BS 1088. Tebo Marine plywood is the marine classification body that boat-builders and shipyards rely on worldwide; when a panel is Lloyds-Approved, it has been independently assessed and certified against the standards Lloyd’s publishes for marine plywood. The 11/11 grading covers both the face veneer quality and the bond performance, so when you specify it you’re buying a panel verified to perform in the conditions it’s sold for, not just labelled to suggest it.
The panel is built around an Okoume face and core construction, lightweight and with excellent resistance to damp conditions, which is what makes it a favourite in boat-building and interior fit-out. Sapele face and core variants are also available where greater durability is the priority, on request. You’ll see it across boat-building and ship interiors, trailer and van linings, external joinery, walkways, pontoons, wet-area floors, and temporary structures where ordinary plywood would eventually fail.
Working with the sheet
At 4 mm, work the sheet with a sharp TCT blade with a high tooth count for clean cross-cuts. Pre-drill before fixing close to an edge, and use stainless or hot-dip galvanised fixings throughout, because the conditions that suit marine ply also corrode plain steel. Seal all cut edges before installation; the face veneers carry the moisture protection across the panel, but a freshly cut edge exposes the core glue lines and needs protecting with a quality edge sealer or epoxy.
Store flat, off the ground, and protected from direct weather until you’re ready to install. Even marine ply lasts longer when it doesn’t sit in standing water during storage.
Finishing
For boat and exterior work, most of our customers seal the panel with an epoxy primer or marine-grade undercoat, then topcoat with a marine varnish or two-pack polyurethane for full UV and water protection. For interior wet-area work, a yacht varnish or hardwax oil with several coats works well. Avoid using ordinary household primers and paints, since they don’t have the flexibility or water resistance to keep up with the panel. Ask us if you’re unsure which finish to pair with your project, and we’ll point you to what works.
