Treated C24 Timber
4×1.5 treated whitewood, 100 by 35 mm, is the framing section for garden buildings and outbuildings: sheds, workshops, garden room walls, and any stud frame that will not sit in a heated, dry envelope. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment. Lengths run from 3 m to 5.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
An outbuilding frame lives in a harder environment than most people expect. It is often unheated, so warm damp air condenses on the inside face of the sheathing in winter, and the frame sits closer to the ground than a house frame does. Treated stud removes the risk that the wall quietly decays behind the lining, which is the usual failure in a ten year old garden room.
Installation guidance
Keep the sole plate clear of the slab with a DPC even though the timber is treated, because standing water will defeat any preservative given long enough. Fix with hot dip galvanised or stainless nails and framing anchors. Treat cut ends as you go rather than at the end of the day, and keep the frame sheeted if it will stand open overnight.
Finishing & maintenance
Treated framing that will be enclosed needs no coating. Where studs are left exposed inside a workshop, they take a stain or paint once dry. For a frame inside a warm dry building, the untreated section is the right specification: see 4×1.5 C24 timber rough sawn. Compare it with the loadbearing studs in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
