Treated C24 Timber
6×1 treated whitewood, 150 by 22 mm, is the wide board for damp and exposed work: shed and garage linings, open soffits, sarking in an unventilated build-up, and boarding on garden structures. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment, it is supplied with the specifications needed for sign-off on regulated work. Lengths run from 3 m to 5.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
Width is what makes this board useful and also what makes treatment worth having. A 150 mm board that wets on one face and stays dry on the other will cup, and a cupped board opens its joints to more water. Pressure treatment slows the decay that follows, and because the timber was kiln dried before it went into the vessel it starts from a stable moisture content rather than a wet one.
Installation guidance
Leave a gap of a few millimetres between boards where they will see rain, so a wetted board has room to move without forcing its neighbours. Fix twice across the width at every bearing to hold it flat. Treat all cut ends, and treat the back of any board that will sit tight against masonry, since that face never gets the chance to dry.
Finishing & maintenance
Let the boards dry before any coating goes on, or the finish will not key. The green cast fades naturally with exposure. If the boarding is going somewhere permanently dry and ventilated, the untreated board is the right call: see 6×1 C24 timber rough sawn. See every board width and length in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
