Egger Dark Taupe ST9 MFC
Add a warm, sophisticated neutral with Egger Dark Taupe ST9 melamine faced chipboard, stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland. You get a deep grey brown decor with a smooth ST9 matt face that feels earthy and refined and grounds a scheme, faced both sides onto a stable chipboard core. At a full 2800 by 2070 mm and 18 mm thick, each sheet gives excellent yield for cabinetry and joinery, and a colour matched ABS edging is available so your finished edges look factory made.
Why Egger MFC?
Melamine faced chipboard earns its place in modern furniture because the decorative surface does the hard work for you. The fused ST9 matt face is scratch and scuff resistant and wipes clean in seconds, so a warm neutral like Dark Taupe stays fresh in kitchens, wardrobes, offices and retail fit outs. Factory pressed decor keeps colour consistent sheet to sheet, which matters when you are running a batch of matching units. The chipboard core is flat and stable for carcassing, shelving and panels. This is an interior board, so keep it out of persistently wet areas.
Installation guidance
Working with MFC is straightforward once you protect the face. Score the cut line or run a fine tooth TCT blade to stop the melamine chipping, and keep the sheet fully supported so it does not sag or snap on the bench. Build carcasses with confirmat screws, dowels or standard cabinet fittings, all of which hold well in the core. For shelving, keep unsupported spans sensible so an 18 mm shelf does not bow under load, and add a mid support on longer runs. Run the decor the same way across paired parts for a consistent look.
Finishing & edge care
The faces arrive finished, so the job is all about the edges. Every cut exposes the raw core, so seal exposed edges with our matching Dark Taupe ST9 ABS edging to lock out moisture and give a clean, durable finish. Keep the core dry in storage and in use, and treat this as an interior board rather than an exterior or damp application. Cleaning is easy: a damp cloth lifts most marks, while abrasive pads and harsh solvents are best avoided so the matt surface keeps its even look.
