Egger Painting Grade ST40 MFC
Get complete colour freedom with Egger Painting Grade ST40 melamine faced chipboard, a paintable board stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland. Instead of a finished decor, you get a primed, paint ready surface in the ST40 deep matt texture, faced both sides onto a stable chipboard core, so you can paint your units any colour you like and match a scheme exactly. At a full 2800 by 2070 mm and 18 mm thick, each sheet gives excellent yield for cabinetry and joinery, and a matching paint ready ABS edging is available so faces and edges finish as one.
Why Egger MFC?
A painting grade board gives you the stability and flatness of melamine faced chipboard with the freedom of a bespoke paint finish. The primed ST40 surface is designed to take paint evenly, so you are not limited to a standard decor range when a project calls for a specific colour. The chipboard core stays flat and stable for carcassing, shelving and panels, and machines cleanly like any MFC. This is an interior board, so keep it out of persistently wet areas.
Installation guidance
Working with MFC is straightforward once you protect the face. Score the cut line or run a fine tooth TCT blade to keep the edge clean, and keep the sheet fully supported so it does not sag or snap on the bench. Build carcasses with confirmat screws, dowels or standard cabinet fittings, all of which hold well in the core. For shelving, keep unsupported spans sensible so an 18 mm shelf does not bow under load, and add a mid support on longer runs. Apply the matching paint ready edging before you paint so the whole unit finishes together.
Finishing & edge care
Unlike a finished decor board, this surface is meant to be painted. Edge the board first with our matching paint ready ABS edging and trim flush, then prime and paint the faces and edges together for a seamless bespoke colour. Use a primer and paint system suitable for the surface and follow the paint manufacturer guidance for coats and drying. Keep the board dry and treat it as an interior product. Once painted and cured, clean gently with a damp cloth and avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents.
