Egger Scivaro Slate ST76 MFC
Bring the elegance of real slate to your interiors with Egger Scivaro Slate ST76 melamine faced chipboard, stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland. You get a deep black stone effect decor with a subtle reflective character, finished in the ST76 rough matt texture that gives an authentic slate feel underhand, faced both sides onto a stable chipboard core. At a full 2800 by 2070 mm and 18 mm thick, each sheet gives excellent yield for worktops, cabinetry and feature panels, and a colour matched ABS edging is available so the stone effect runs to every edge.
Why Egger MFC?
Melamine faced chipboard lets you deliver a convincing stone look with none of the weight or cost of the real thing. The fused ST76 rough matt face is scratch and scuff resistant and wipes clean in seconds, so the slate effect stays sharp in kitchens, bars, retail units and office fit outs. A large repeat in the decor keeps the pattern looking natural across big surfaces, and factory pressing keeps it consistent sheet to sheet. The chipboard core is flat and stable for carcassing, shelving and panels. This is an interior board, so keep it out of persistently wet areas.
Installation guidance
Working with MFC is straightforward once you protect the face. Score the cut line or run a fine tooth TCT blade to stop the melamine chipping, and keep the sheet fully supported so it does not sag or snap on the bench. Build carcasses with confirmat screws, dowels or standard cabinet fittings, all of which hold well in the core. For shelving, keep unsupported spans sensible so an 18 mm shelf does not bow under load, and add a mid support on longer runs. Where the stone pattern reads in one direction, run it consistently across paired parts so it flows naturally through the finished piece.
Finishing & edge care
The faces arrive finished, so the job is all about the edges. Every cut exposes the raw core, so seal exposed edges with our matching Scivaro Slate ST76 ABS edging to lock out moisture and carry the stone effect right to the edge. Keep the core dry in storage and in use, and treat this as an interior board rather than an exterior or damp application. Cleaning is easy: a damp cloth lifts most marks, while abrasive pads and harsh solvents are best avoided so the textured surface keeps its even look.
