Egger Shadow Black ST38 MFC
Build in a soft, ultra matt black with Egger Shadow Black ST38 melamine faced chipboard, stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland. You get a deep, saturated black decor with the distinctive ST38 sueded matt face that reads warm and velvety underhand rather than glossy or plastic, faced both sides onto a stable chipboard core. Each sheet measures a full 2800 by 2070 mm at 18 mm thick for high yield on statement units, and a colour matched ABS edging is available so the shadow tone continues across every cut edge.
Why Egger MFC?
Melamine faced chipboard puts a factory finished surface at the core of your furniture, and the ST38 super matt face is the reason to choose this particular decor. The deep matt surface hides fingerprints and light scuffs better than a conventional matt, keeping a strong black looking sharp on kitchen carcasses, wardrobes and feature panels. The face resists everyday scratches and wipes clean quickly. Factory pressed decor keeps the tone consistent from sheet to sheet, so paired panels read as one. The 18 mm core stays flat and stable for carcassing.
Installation guidance
A super matt face still shows chipping, so score the line or use a fine tooth TCT blade and back the sheet fully during the cut. Assemble with confirmat screws, dowels or standard cabinet fittings, which take a firm hold in the core. Keep unsupported shelf spans sensible so an 18 mm board carries its load without bowing, and add a mid support on longer runs. Handle the panels carefully, since a deep matt face marks more readily than a smoother finish when dust and grit are dragged across it.
Finishing & edge care
Faces come finished, so the edges are where the detail lives on a black unit. Seal every cut edge with our matching Shadow Black ST38 ABS edging to close off the core and keep the black unbroken from face to edge. Keep the board dry through storage and use, and treat it as an interior product only. Clean with a soft damp cloth only and avoid abrasive pads and strong solvents, which can burnish the super matt surface and leave shiny patches that stand out clearly.
