19 mm MDF is the standard joinery thickness in a CNC bed sized blank. A large format router has a bed a normal sheet does not fill, and every sheet change costs setup time, a fresh vacuum pull and a chance to lose registration, so a nest that would take three standard sheets and three cycles runs here in one.
A bigger blank also nests tighter, because fewer part edges are forced onto a sheet boundary, so less falls out as offcut and the cost per part drops across a run of cabinet parts, signage or set pieces. At 19 mm those parts machine and take hardware like the usual joinery thickness, so they drop straight into normal cabinet work, and the sheet covers pieces nothing standard produces whole: a wide feature panel, a full height door blank, a large sign face.
Cutting and handling
At 119.33 kg and oversized in both directions this is mechanical handling: a forklift, a panel trolley or a genuine team lift. It will not go through a domestic doorway or turn in a corridor, so measure the receiving space and machine access before ordering: a 3660×2200 mm board needs clear run all round the bed. Store it dead flat on bearers at close centres, because a panel this large deforms under its own mass and a bowed blank will not pull flat under vacuum, which ruins the cut before the first pass.
Fixing and painting
Nest with enough onion skin or tabbing on the small parts, because a sheet this size gives the vacuum far more area to leak across and parts lift before the pass finishes. Run good extraction; a full bed cycle at this area makes a lot of fine dust. Prime cut faces and edges with a dedicated MDF primer, since machined edges and pocketed detail expose much more absorbent core than a sanded face.
Where not to use it
The core swells once it gets wet and does not recover, so if the job is a kitchen, a bathroom or a utility room use the moisture resistant grade instead. The rest of the thicknesses are on the Standard MDF page, and the wider range is on the MDF boards page.
