Genuine European white oak BS EN636 Class 3 crown-cut veneer on both faces over a dense, void-free birch plywood core
The oversized 2500×1250 mm sheet gives you a clean 2.5 m run without a join, which matters when you're cladding a long wall or building a full-height wardrobe carcass.
Two-sided A/B veneer means you can use it for freestanding furniture, dividers and open shelving where both faces are on show
The exposed birch ply edge reads as considered, modern joinery, so you can skip the lipping and let the layered laminations become a design feature
Crown-cut veneer delivers the distinctive cathedral grain figure clients picture when they ask for "real oak"
Best kept dry; not intended for sustained wet or exterior exposure

13 mm oak veneered plywood is the lighter of the two oak faced boards we carry. Real oak veneer on a birch plywood core, veneered on both faces.
Cabinet doors and drawer fronts are where 13 mm earns its place, because a door in this board is noticeably lighter than one in 19 mm, so the hinges work less hard and a tall door is easier to hang and keep true. Wall panelling, shelving on decent supports, the sides and fronts of built in furniture, and window seats and box fronts are the rest. Because it is veneered both sides it stays flat: a board veneered on one face only will bow, since the two sides take up and give off moisture at different rates, and on a cabinet door that matters more than anywhere else.
Cutting and handling
At 31.35 kg it is a two person lift despite being the thinner of the two. The veneer is thin, so keep the good face upwards when cutting, score the line first, and never drag the sheet across anything, because a scratch through an oak veneer cannot be sanded out.
Fixing and painting
Sand lightly and stop: it is very easy to go through the veneer on a corner or an edge, and the only repair is a patch. Plan the edges early, since iron on oak edging tape is the usual answer and it is worth checking the tape against your sheet for colour before you commit to a whole kitchen of it. Finish it as you would solid oak and test on an offcut first, because oak varies and the same oil looks different from one board to the next.
Where not to use it
If the piece is a cabinet body or carrying real weight, go up to the 19 mm board, which is what cabinet hardware is sized around. It is an interior board on a birch core, so wet areas want marine plywood. There is more on the range on the veneered plywood page and the plywood page.
