Pros and cons
Real solid edge-glued pine that saws, drills, sands and machines just like natural timber
Takes paint, stain, varnish or oil, and can be refinished years later
Edge-glued construction keeps the panel flatter and more stable than a single wide plank
AB grade gives a clean A face for show and a sound B reverse for value
As solid wood it moves with humidity, so both faces need sealing equally to stay flat
Bond rating for damp areas is not confirmed, so treat as interior unless verified

Pine Lamwood Panel (AB Grade)
Get the warmth and character of real solid wood in a flat, ready-to-work panel with our Pine Lamwood (AB Grade), stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland. Unlike a veneered or foil-wrapped board, this is genuine edge-glued pine right through, so you can saw, drill, mill, sand and screw it just like solid timber, then paint, stain or varnish it to suit your project. The AB grade gives you one clean, presentable A face for visible work and a sound B reverse, which makes it a favourite for furniture, wardrobes, shelving and everyday joinery.
Why edge-glued pine?
Each panel is built from narrow staves of solid pine glued edge to edge, then sanded flat into a stable, full-size board. Laying the strips side by side balances the natural movement of the timber, so the panel stays flatter and more predictable than a single wide plank. Because it is solid wood all the way through, there is no thin veneer to chip or sand through: you can rout profiles, round over edges and refinish it years later. The AB grade means a tidy A face for show and a structurally sound B face behind, giving you real value where one side will not be seen.
Installation guidance
This panel works exactly like solid timber, which is part of its appeal. Cut it with any sharp saw, pre-drill near edges and ends to avoid splitting, and countersink your screws for a flush finish. The grain runs along the length of the board, so plan visible panels to run the same way for a consistent look. For shelving, keep your supports closer together on longer spans to prevent sag under load. As real wood, it reacts to changes in humidity, so in fitted runs leave a small allowance for movement rather than wedging panels in tight.
Finishing & edge care
Sand through the grits to a smooth surface, then finish with a quality interior paint, stain, varnish or oil. We stock the right ones, so ask us to add them to your order. The golden rule with solid wood is balance: seal both faces and all edges equally, even hidden ones, so the panel takes on and gives off moisture evenly and stays flat. On the B face, fill any minor knots or marks before painting if that side will show. Treat this as an interior board for dry rooms, as its bond rating for damp areas is not confirmed here, so check with us before using it in a kitchen, utility or bathroom.
