Treated C24 Timber
4×2 C24 treated timber is the structural softwood you specify when framing has to cope with damp and you still need a certified load bearing rating. Every length is strength graded to C24 and kiln dried below 22% moisture content before it goes into the treatment vessel, so the preservative is drawn into the timber under vacuum pressure rather than brushed across the surface. That makes it the standard choice for sole plates, external stud work, sub floor framing, and any carcassing sitting within reach of moisture. Sourced from sustainably managed European forests and stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
Treated C24 earns its place by holding a full structural rating while standing up to conditions that would rot untreated carcassing. The grading is identical to our sawn range, so you get the same certification and the same paperwork for sign off on regulated work, with protection against rot and insect attack on top. Because the preservative is pressure driven rather than surface applied, the only vulnerable part of a treated board is where you cut it. It handles, cuts and fixes much like untreated carcassing, so nothing about your site routine has to change.
Installation guidance
Treat every cut end and drilled hole with a compatible end grain preservative before you fix it, because a saw cut exposes untreated timber at the centre of the section. Use galvanised or stainless steel structural fixings rated for the load and the location, since the copper based preservatives used on treated timber will corrode plain steel over time. Always check span tables for the relevant section size before specifying. Store flat and clear of the ground on site, and let freshly treated timber dry before you close board over it.
Finishing & maintenance
Pressure treatment protects against rot and insect attack, it does not stop weathering. Timber left fully exposed will still grey and check over time, so apply a suitable exterior coating where appearance matters, and let the board dry out first. The green tint fades through the first months outdoors. Re treat any damage that reaches bare timber, along with every cut end.
For dry internal framing there is no reason to pay for treatment, and the same section is available untreated in our sawn range: 4×2 C24 Timber Rough Sawn (100×44 mm).
