Treated C24 Timber
7×2 treated whitewood, 175 by 44 mm, is the deep treated joist for longer deck spans, floors over unheated voids, and framing in open or partly open structures. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment, every length carries the specifications needed for sign-off on regulated work. Lengths run from 3 m to 8.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
Raised decks and garden rooms are where this size earns its place. Once a deck is more than a step off the ground, the frame becomes hard to inspect and harder to replace, and the spans get longer because you want fewer posts. A treated 175 mm joist lets you span properly and stop worrying about the part of the structure you will never see again.
Installation guidance
Give at least 90 mm of bearing at each end and keep bearings off masonry with a DPC or a galvanised shoe. Strut or block at mid span on longer runs so the joists cannot roll. Where services or drainage cross, drill rather than notch and treat the hole. Every cut, including the angled cuts on a trimmed opening, needs end grain preservative before it is fixed.
Finishing & maintenance
Leave a raised frame open long enough to dry before decking over it, particularly if it went up in wet weather. Re-treat any cut you find untreated during a later inspection. The untreated equivalent, for dry internal floors, is 7×2 C24 timber rough sawn. Compare every joist depth in our C24 treated timber range, from 3×2 to 9×2. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
