18 mm OSB 3 is the flooring thickness, the one that goes down over joists and gets walked on, and it is the reason most people buy OSB at all.
The board is built from large wood strands pressed in oriented layers, with no knots and no voids through the section. For a floor that matters twice over: the sheet carries load predictably across its whole area, and a screw grips the same wherever it lands rather than occasionally finding a gap. It is rated load bearing for humid conditions, which is what lets it sit on a shed or garage floor rather than only inside a heated house.
Cutting and handling
At 32.1 kg it is comfortable for two people and manageable alone on the flat. Use a sharp blade with plenty of teeth and accept that the resin will take the edge off it faster than timber would. Cut outside or with extraction and wear a mask: OSB makes coarse dust in quantity.
Fixing and painting
Screw rather than nail a floor. Nails work loose under foot traffic and start squeaking within a year, and a screwed floor lifts again if you ever need to get underneath. Land every sheet edge on a joist, stagger the joints across the floor, and leave a small gap at the walls so the board has somewhere to go when it takes up moisture.
If the floor is going to be seen, seal it. Bare OSB takes dirt into the open grain between the strands and will not come clean afterwards. Two coats of floor paint or a clear sealer is enough, and it is far easier done before the sheets go down than after.
Where not to use it
Not anywhere it will be standing in water, and not left out over a winter uncovered. A board that has been soaked and dried swells at the edges and never sits flat again. Humid conditions are what it is rated for, not weather. If the floor has to look like something, lay a finish board over it.
