The Modern Range Garden Room is a contemporary timber structure supplied as a DIY kit, designed to give you a useable space that works as a snug, a home office, a covered dining area, or a sheltered evening retreat. At 3 metres wide by 3 metres deep, the 3000 variant is the compact end of the range, ideal for a single home office, a reading retreat, or a small entertaining space tucked into the back garden. Supplied flat packed with clear instructions, and stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.

Why the Modern Range?

The Modern Range was designed for buyers who want clean architectural lines rather than a traditional shed aesthetic. Ultra modern slatted cladding gives the structure a sharp, considered profile; the natural feather edge option softens it for gardens with a more relaxed planting scheme. Either way the finished room reads as a designed feature, not an afterthought. Sidewalls and rear walls are optional, so you can specify a fully enclosed room or an open fronted shelter depending on how you plan to use the space. The kit is engineered around triple glazed sliding doors and matching modern roof trims, so every component has been chosen to work together rather than retrofitted from generic parts.

What’s in the kit and how it goes together

The kit arrives flat packed with everything you need: planed uprights, ring beam, purlins, your chosen cladding profile, roof battens, EPDM roof membrane, deluxe triple glass sliding doors, and matching modern roof trims. Assembly is genuinely DIY friendly, and the instructions walk you through each step from setting the uprights to dressing the roof. Allow a full weekend for a confident two person build, longer if you’re new to timber construction; nothing in the kit requires specialist tools.

The most important step is the base. A Garden Room of this size needs a level, stable foundation to perform properly: a concrete slab, properly bedded paving, or a timber deck base all work well, but skipping this step is the single biggest cause of post build problems. Set the uprights plumb, get the ring beam square, and the rest of the kit lines up cleanly. Pre drill near board ends, fix with stainless steel hardware, and the joints will stay tight for decades. Finishing and maintenance

Once the kit is up, this is genuinely low effort timber. The treated softwood used in the Modern Range gives you decades of useful life without annual upkeep, so the question is mostly cosmetic: do you want to keep the warm fresh colour the timber arrives with, or let it weather to a soft silver grey over twelve to eighteen months? Many of our customers leave it untreated, letting the contemporary architecture of the Modern Range settle in with a naturally weathered finish; others apply a UV protective hardwood oil within the first few months to hold on to the warmer tones, refreshed every two or three years. We stock the right oils and stains for the timber used in this kit; ask us which to pair with your build. Skip film forming paints and varnishes, and skip the pressure washer; a soft brush and diluted neutral cleaner once or twice a year is all the routine attention the structure needs.
