                          Thermo Spruce Sauna Cladding

Thermo Spruce sauna cladding is a spruce wall board in a triple slatted profile, giving sauna walls and feature walls a fine, lined texture. Each board is 140 x 26 mm, a heavier board than our 21 mm Ayous cladding, and you choose the length on the product page. Spruce is light and easy to work, and the boards are stocked in our warehouse and delivered across Ireland.

Thermo Spruce Sauna Cladding for Sale in Ireland

The triple slatted profile gives each board three shallow grooves across its face, so a finished wall reads as fine lines rather than wide planks. It is a popular look for the outer walls of a sauna, a relaxation room or a feature wall, and the 26 mm thickness gives the boards a solid, substantial feel on the wall.

Spruce is a predictable, easy going timber. At around 470 kg/m³ it is lightweight and easy to cut, and it machines cleanly to a smooth surface.

                            Thermo Spruce board size

Every board has the same triple slatted profile at 140 x 26 mm. The 140 mm face covers ground quickly, so a wall goes up in fewer boards. Choose the length on the product page: a shorter board is easier to handle in a small room and on shorter walls, while a longer one covers long walls with the fewest joints. The calculator on the product page turns your wall area into a board count, and the cart adds the matching extras for you.

                            Installing Thermo Spruce cladding

Spruce is one of the most forgiving timbers to fit:

                            • Fix onto a level frame of battens, with a ventilated cavity behind the boards.
                            • Use stainless steel fixings. The timber is soft enough that pre drilling is rarely needed except near the board ends.
                            • Let the boards settle in the room for a day or two before fixing.

Thermo Spruce vs other sauna cladding

Ayous sauna cladding has the same triple slatted look in a thinner, thermally modified 21 mm board. For surfaces you sit or lean against, alder sauna wood is the traditional resin free choice. Compare every wall board on our sauna cladding page.

                            Finishing Thermo Spruce

Inside a hot room, use only sauna specific finishes and never varnish or exterior stain. Most customers protect sauna walls and ceilings with Saunawood Protection Wax, a tinted, water based coating that helps the timber shed moisture and dirt and resists mould. You’ll find it with our sauna accessories.
