Coloured all the way through; cuts, routed profiles and drilled holes stay the same colour as the face
Classified MDF.HLS per EN 622-5; high-density, moisture-resistant, suitable for structural use in humid environments
Higher density and stronger internal cohesion than standard MDF; machines cleanly with less tool wear
Made in Portugal; design material that reads as natural wood rather than as coated MDF
Natural colour variation between sheets and within sheets; lay panels out before installation to minimise visible difference
Surface needs a finish (varnish, wax or oil) to protect the colour and the texture in service

White Valchromat is dyed into the fibres before pressing, so the colour carries through the full thickness and a sawn edge needs nothing done to it.
Set your expectations on the shade before you order. This is a soft, warm off white with the wood fibre still visible in it, not the flat brilliant white of a sprayed panel, and once it is oiled it warms further towards a very pale stone. That is what makes it work next to timber and plaster, and it is also why it will look wrong if it has to sit flush against a factory sprayed white door. Order a sample or an offcut and hold it up in the actual room first.
Cutting and handling
At 48 kg it wants two people. The board is dense and hard, which gives a clean cut and a crisp routed profile, but expect to change blades sooner than you would on standard MDF. Keep your hands and the bench clean while you work: white is the colour in the range that picks up a dirty glove mark, and while a light sanding takes it out, it is easier not to put it there.
Fixing and painting
Test the finish on an offcut first, and do it properly, because on white the choice of oil changes the result more than it does on any other colour here. Most hardwax oils carry a slight amber, which pushes the board towards cream. A white pigmented or clear matte hardwax keeps it cool. Whatever you pick, coat the edges as well as the faces so the whole piece reads as one colour.
Where not to use it
Moisture resistant does not mean waterproof, so keep it out of showers and off anything that will sit wet. It is also the least forgiving colour in the range for a kitchen worktop, where wine and turmeric will find it. If you want the same pale feel with more tolerance, light grey is the sensible swap. The full palette is on the coloured MDF page, and the rest of the range on the MDF page.
