Treated C24 Timber
3×2 treated whitewood, 75 by 44 mm, is the small structural section for ground-level work: deck bearers, sole plates on slabs, garden structure framing, and noggins in any frame that will not stay dry. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment, it carries the same certification as our sawn range. Lengths run from 3 m to 5.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
This section spends its working life closer to the ground than anything else in the range, which is where decay starts. A sole plate on a slab sits in whatever water tracks across that slab; a deck bearer sits under a deck where air barely moves. Treatment is the difference between a frame that lasts decades and one that goes soft at the bottom in a few years.
Installation guidance
Always keep a DPC between the plate and any masonry or concrete, even with treated timber, because standing water will eventually beat a preservative. Fix down at no more than 600 mm centres with anchors rated for uplift. As a deck bearer, set the depth vertical, keep spans short, and treat the cut end at every joint.
Finishing & maintenance
No finish is needed on a bearer or plate that will be covered. Where the timber is visible at a deck edge, stain it once dry. For dry internal noggins and plates, the untreated section is cheaper and correct: 3×2 C24 timber rough sawn. Compare it with the deeper sections in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
