Treated C24 Timber
7×1.5 treated whitewood, 175 by 35 mm, is a deep light section for outdoor and damp-zone work: trimming around openings in an outbuilding, deep rails, light joists over a crawl space, and framing in unheated structures. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment. Lengths run from 3 m to 5.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
Framing over a crawl space or an unheated void is a quiet risk: the timber is structural, it is out of sight, and the air under it is damp all year. A treated section in that position lasts the life of the building instead of becoming an inspection item. The depth gives useful stiffness without the weight of a 44 mm board, which matters when the frame has to be built in a confined space.
Installation guidance
Give full bearing at both ends and keep bearings clear of any masonry with a DPC. Where you double the section for extra capacity, treat the faces that will be clamped together, because the joint between two boards holds water indefinitely. Restrain the top edge against buckling, and treat every cut end before fixing.
Finishing & maintenance
This section will usually be enclosed and needs no finish. Where it is visible in a workshop or carport, a stain applied after drying keeps it tidy. The untreated equivalent, for dry internal framing, is 7×1.5 C24 timber rough sawn. If the span needs a full 44 mm joist, compare the options in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
