Treated C24 Timber
7×1 treated whitewood, 175 by 22 mm, is a wide exposed board for deep fascia grounds, gable ladders, open carport and porch linings, and garden building cladding backers. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment. Lengths run from 3 m to 5.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
A gable ladder is a good example of why this board is treated. It projects past the wall into the weather, it carries the verge, and it is completely inaccessible once the roof is finished. Anything in that category should be specified treated from the start, because the cost of getting back to it later is many times the cost of the timber.
Installation guidance
Support this width at no more than 600 mm centres and fix near both edges so it is held flat rather than pivoting on a single line of nails. Every cut, notch and drilled hole needs an end grain preservative before it goes up. Where the board is built into masonry, use a DPC between the timber and the blockwork rather than relying on the treatment alone.
Finishing & maintenance
Treated timber will accept paint or stain once it has dried out, and on a visible verge or fascia detail a coating is what keeps it looking right. Re-treat any damage that reaches bare timber. The untreated equivalent, for dry covered work, is 7×1 C24 timber rough sawn. Compare it with the narrower and wider boards in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
