Treated C24 Timber
7×3 treated whitewood, 175 by 75 mm, is a heavy outdoor beam for longer carport and pergola spans, main deck bearers, and exposed purlins where a 6×3 will not reach. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment. Lengths run from 3 m to 8.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
Outdoors, depth buys more than capacity. A deeper beam deflects less under the same load, and a beam that moves less keeps its joints closed, which is the practical difference between a carport that stays tight and one that opens up and lets water into every connection. The 8.4 m lengths let a beam run a full bay in one piece with no splice to detail.
Installation guidance
Restrain the top edge along its length, from the rafters or joists bearing on it, or a beam this deep can buckle sideways under load. Support it on a bracket or a proper seat rather than end bearing on a post top. Treat all cuts, and where a beam is exposed at the end, cut a slight fall on the end grain so water runs off rather than soaking in.
Finishing & maintenance
Finish an exposed beam with an exterior oil or stain once it has dried out, and refresh the end grain more often than the faces. At over 50 kg for the longest lengths, plan the lift. For dry roof work indoors, use 7×3 C24 timber rough sawn. See every beam and post size in our C24 treated timber range. To compare sawn and treated sizes side by side, see our construction timber page.
