Bring a clean, contemporary white into your project straight off the board with Platinum White W980 ST12, a genuine Egger Eurodekor melamine faced chipboard stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland. You get a flat, opaque uni colour finished in the ST9 Smoothtouch Matt texture, giving your cabinetry a soft, natural matt feel with none of the glare of a gloss. It arrives pre-bonded and ready to use, so all you add is the edging. E1 rated and built on a stable P2 core, it is the white joiners trust for carcassing, wardrobes and furniture that has to look sharp.
Why melamine-faced chipboard?
At its core sits a stable Eurospan P2-grade chipboard, faced both sides with an impregnated decorative paper fused under heat and pressure. That construction gives you a durable, wipe-clean surface that resists everyday scratches, abrasion and household chemicals. Because the board is balanced and sealed on both faces it stays flat and true, which matters on a plain white where any bowing would show. The E1 formaldehyde classification keeps emissions low for indoor furniture. As a solid uni colour with no grain to align, panels can be laid out in any direction, making your cutting plans simpler and your waste lower.
Installation guidance
Melamine rewards a clean, careful approach. Cut with a fine-toothed or scoring blade and back the board fully so the surface does not chip along the cut, and a strip of masking tape over the line helps keep the edge crisp. Pre-drill before driving screws to avoid splitting the core. For shelving, keep your supports closer together on longer spans to stop any sag. White surfaces show fingerprints and scuffs more than darker decors, so handle with clean hands and keep offcuts face up off the floor. At 18mm the full sheet is heavy, so an extra pair of hands makes light work of it.
Finishing & edge care
The faces need no paint, primer or lacquer, that is the appeal of a melamine panel. Your only job is the edges. Every cut exposes the raw chipboard core, so finish visible edges with matching Platinum White W980 ST12 ABS edging for a clean, sealed join that holds out moisture, just ask us to add it to your order. Keep this board to interior, dry settings: as a P2 chipboard it is not moisture resistant and should not be used in bathrooms, externally, or anywhere prone to damp. Sealed edges and dry conditions are all it takes to keep that crisp white looking its best for years.
