WOCA Exterior Oil — Thunder Grey 2.5Lt
Oil your deck or garden furniture with this once, and you sign up for the easiest maintenance cycle in exterior wood care. When it eventually needs a refresh, you simply clean and re-oil, with no sanding back to bare timber ever again. WOCA Exterior Oil is a water-based oil from the Danish wood-care specialists, giving you a matte, natural finish in a deep Thunder Grey that lets the grain show through rather than sitting on top like a paint. Its special pigments carry built-in UV protection and hold their colour against the sun, and the whole range is stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.
Why WOCA Exterior Oil?
Most exterior oils make you choose between easy clean-up and serious protection — WOCA’s water-based formula gives you both. It’s quick-drying and low-odour to work with, yet the pigments penetrate and bond to shield the surface against moss, algae and the green deposits that plague shaded decks in the Irish climate.
The honest detail worth knowing is that the colour and the protection come from the same pigments, so a Thunder Gray finish isn’t just a look — it’s actively carrying the UV defence. That’s why a pigmented tone like this one weathers better outdoors than a clear oil, which has far less to block the sun with.
Application guidance
This is about as forgiving as exterior finishing gets — there’s no stripping or sanding to bare wood, just a clean, dry, grease-free surface to start from. One litre covers roughly 12–15 m², so measure your deck or furniture and order accordingly, keeping a little spare for the eventual refresh.
One point we’d insist on: use the proper WOCA brushes and rollers, never a hardware-store applicator. The wrong roller leaves a patchy, streaky finish that no amount of product will fix — ask us and we’ll point you to the right one. Work thin, even coats along the grain, and pick a dry, mild day out of direct sun so the oil can soak in rather than flash off the surface.
Finishing & maintenance
You have two good options once it’s down, and there’s no wrong answer. The low-effort route is to leave it and simply re-oil when the colour starts to fade — a wash with WOCA Exterior Cleaner and a fresh coat brings it straight back, no sanding required. The proactive route suits high-traffic decks and exposed furniture: clean and lightly re-oil on a regular schedule so the surface never gets the chance to dull, which is what most of our customers choose for a terrace they actually live on. Whichever you pick, stick to WOCA’s own cleaner and oil — avoid film-forming varnishes or solvent strippers over the top, as they fight the penetrating oil rather than work with it. And in both cases, Exterior Cleaner rather than a pressure washer is the right tool for keeping the surface fresh between coats.
