Tricoya MDF 3050×1220 mm is the long sheet in the range, 18 mm thick and the same exterior grade panel as the 8×4 board, in a length that takes a full storey height or a tall door leaf in one piece.
The length is the reason to pay for it. A horizontal joint in an exterior panel is the line that opens as the building moves and the first place water finds its way behind the face. On a clad elevation or a tall gate, losing that joint is worth more than the extra handling costs you. Like the rest of the range it is made from acetylated wood fibres that do not take up water the way untreated fibre does, and it carries a 50 year warranty above ground with 25 years in ground contact.
Cutting and handling
At 46.9 kg this is a long, heavy sheet and a definite two person lift, so plan the route in and somewhere flat to put it down. It machines like MDF, giving crisp profiles and a paintable face, but support it well across the cut because a panel this long will sag into the blade under its own weight. Cut with extraction or outdoors in a P2 or P3 mask.
Fixing and painting
Pilot fixings near edges and use stainless or coated hardware outdoors. Paint lasts far longer here than on ordinary MDF because the substrate is not moving with the weather, and coating damage does not affect the warranty. Seal every cut edge, and on cladding seal the back before it goes up, because you will never reach it again.
Where not to use it
Not in permanent ground contact beyond what the warranty allows, and not indoors where standard MDF is far cheaper for the same machining and finish.
