Treated C24 Timber
9×2 treated whitewood, 225 by 44 mm, is the long span treated section: wide deck frames, floors over open or damp voids, and heavy framing in exposed structures. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content before treatment. Lengths run from 3 m to 8.4 m. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland.
Why treated C24?
At this depth the design is usually governed by deflection rather than strength, and outdoors that has a second consequence: a frame that flexes opens and closes its joints with every load, which pumps water into them. Holding a long span stiff is part of keeping it dry. The 8.4 m lengths let most deck and floor spans be crossed without a splice, which removes the joint most likely to trap water.
Installation guidance
Restrain a section this deep against rolling with blocking or herringbone strutting at no more than 2.5 m intervals. Double joists under any load bearing above. Where two joists lap over a support, treat both faces of the lap before fixing, because that closed joint will never dry. Use stainless fixings on anything structural that is permanently exposed.
Finishing & maintenance
A deep frame left flat on the ground before installation will wick moisture from the soil, so stack it on bearers and keep it covered. Re-treat cut faces. For an internal floor at this span, use 9×2 C24 timber rough sawn. See every joist and beam size in our C24 treated timber range.
