Puraboard Decking Board, Cashmere
Puraboard is a solid polyurethane decking board with 0% wood in it, so there is nothing in the board to rot, swell or split. You get the look of real timber from a deeply embossed grain, an R11 slip rating for grip in the wet and a Dfl-s2 fire classification, in a 175×22 mm board 3600 mm long. Stocked in our warehouse for delivery across Ireland, it is the top of our Puraboard decking range.
Cashmere is a soft light grey with a gentle warm undertone. It suits contemporary houses with render, pale brick or large format paving, and it gives a calm, modern finish without the starkness of a cool grey.
Why Puraboard?
Most composite decking is a blend of wood fibre and plastic. Puraboard is different: it is polyurethane all the way through, with no hollow chambers and no wood content. That means no fibres near the surface to soak up water, no swelling at cut ends and no rot, so the board behaves the same in a wet Irish winter as it does in July.
The surface is rated R11 on the oil wet ramp test, a high grip rating for a decking board, which matters on shaded decks, around hot tubs and on steps. Each board weighs about 3.51 kg per metre, so a full 3600 mm length is around 12.6 kg and easy for one person to carry and position.
Installation guidance
Puraboard goes down on joists at 400 mm centres for a straight lay. Run the joists closer if you lay the boards on the diagonal. Leave a 4 mm gap between boards and 5 mm at the perimeter. Allow about 5.68 metres of board per square metre including the gaps, or enter your area in the calculator on this page.
The boards are screw fixed only, with no clips. Use PuraFix M3×40 screws, either top fixed and sunk just below the surface or side fixed through the board edge, so the fixings all but disappear. Finish the front edge with the matching Puraboard Bullnose in Cashmere, and see our trims and fascia for the rest of the edge details.
Living with your boards
There is no oiling, staining or sealing to do, ever. The colour is part of the board surface, and the embossed grain never needs sanding back. Sweep the deck regularly and wash it down with warm soapy water and a soft brush a couple of times a year to lift pollen and grime.
Avoid solvent based cleaners, and do not hold a pressure washer nozzle close to the surface, as a concentrated jet can scuff the grain. Lift leaves and planters now and then so water can drain freely from under them.
