26 mm oak veneered MDF is the point where the range stops being cabinet board and starts being furniture in its own right. It is real crown cut white oak on both faces, on a core deep enough to be worked like solid timber.
Reception counters, desk tops, heavy library shelving, bar fronts and window seats are the jobs, generally where the piece is looked at closely and leaned on daily. Two things change at this depth: the board carries load across a wider span without any visible dip, and the edge becomes thick enough to lip in solid oak and shape, so a chamfer or a bullnose reads as a piece of timber rather than a line of tape.
Cutting and handling
At 55.64 kg it is a genuine two person sheet and worth planning a route for. Check the saw will clear 26 mm at the angle the job needs, because plenty of cordless machines will not. Score the face veneer, feed a rip slowly with the riving knife in place, and keep the panel supported along its whole length, because a board this thick stores enough tension to close on the blade. Extraction and a mask rated P2 or P3.
Fixing and painting
The edge here holds a coarse threaded screw properly and will take a deep routed profile without breaking out, but fit a solid oak lipping first wherever the edge is on show, because a profile machined into a veneered board still exposes core along the cut. Glue and screw, pilot close to edges, and use dowels or a mechanical fitting under real load. Sand the lipping and the face together, to 180 or 240 grit and no further.
Where not to use it
Dry interiors only: thickness does not change what an MDF core does when it gets wet. If all you need is a cabinet box, 19 mm is lighter and cheaper, and if the piece has to read as a slab, 39 mm is the one. Everything in the range is on the veneered MDF page, alongside the rest of the MDF boards.
