18 mm moisture resistant MDF 3050×1525 mm is the largest sheet we carry in the standard cabinet thickness. It is the board to order when the pieces you need are wider than a standard sheet will give you.
The width does the work. Rip a 1220 mm sheet and you get two pieces just over 600 mm, which is under the depth of a base unit once a worktop overhang is allowed for. Rip this one and you get two over 760 mm, so deep vanity units, wide bench tops and full depth shelving come off it without a joint and without a wasted offcut strip, at a length that also clears a storey.
Cutting and handling
At 63.6 kg it is a big panel and a genuine two person lift, so check the route in before it is delivered rather than after. Work the cutting list out first, because the width only saves anything if the parts are nested for it. Cut on full length supports with a sharp fine tooth blade, good face upwards, with extraction and a P2 or P3 mask. Support it across the line rather than at the ends, because a panel this size sags into the cut under its own weight.
Fixing and painting
This is the thickness cabinet hardware assumes, so hinges seat with material behind them and assembly screws run to full depth in the edge. Pilot drill and use coarse threaded MDF screws, with dowels or a mechanical fitting on any joint under load. Every fixing stainless or plated in a damp room. Seal or lip every cut edge before installation and prime the edges before the faces.
Where not to use it
It is not waterproof and not an exterior board; Tricoya MDF is. If the cabinet is standard depth, the 2440×1220 mm sheet costs less, handles far more easily and wastes nothing, and the 3050×1220 mm sheet gives the height without the width.
