15 mm MDF is the cabinet thickness in the long sheet. It takes a confirmat at full depth, a hinge plate and a shelf pin system, and it leaves a little more room inside the unit than a heavier board does, which is worth having in a tall wardrobe where every panel in the run eats the width.
The length is the real purchase. A full height wardrobe, a larder, alcove joinery or a library shelving standard comes out as one upright from floor to ceiling, with no cross joint halfway up the gable, and a cross joint is the line that opens first as the unit settles and the building moves. One piece also comes off the saw straight and square with no joining operation on any upright, so the run goes together faster. Under 2440 mm the 2440×1220 mm sheet does the same work for less.
Cutting and handling
At 40.2 kg it is two people on edge, and it wants cutting down before you do anything else with it. Store it flat and fully supported rather than leaning, because a sheet this long takes a bow within a couple of days and a bowed gable fights you all the way up the wall. Cut on the flat with a track saw: feeding this length across a table saw single handed is how a rip wanders, and a tapered gable throws the whole unit out.
Fixing and painting
Glue and confirmat is the quickest strong joint at this thickness. Pre-drill everything going into an edge and keep it back from the corner, because the edge splits without a pilot hole and a split in a full height gable wastes the whole length. Prime face and edges with a dedicated MDF primer and sand between coats, doing the edges first and letting them sit, since they take a coat more than the face.
Where not to use it
The core swells once it gets wet and does not recover, so if the job is a kitchen, a bathroom or a utility room use the moisture resistant grade instead. The rest of the thicknesses are on the Standard MDF page, and the wider range is on the MDF boards page.
